I imagine that every DSM'er has seen his or her car like this at some point...

(Oh well, at least it's moving).

So embarrassing driving through my subdivision with my car on the back of a flatdeck (I sat in the passenger seat of the truck).  Oh so humiliating.  Took like a half an hour to get the damn thing on the flatbed too... Damn H&R's

Sadly/luckily my car has never seen the tow-truck bed before. When the belt broke the first time my uncle had a car trailer to use..The second time the belt broke it was at my house; good but bad luck!!! :-[

I've been trailered twice.

1st time was my MX6 on the way to the track.
My MSD ignition died. It was brand new, which pissed me off.

Didnt have my spare disty with me, as you have to mod' the disty to get MSD's to work on those things.

2nd time in my turbo civic.
Was rush hour traffic going through surrey in the summer.

A coolant hose burst, so I cut it down and put it back on after the break (it was right where it goes to the block)
It leaked down to my starter and some how shorted out my alarm and it stayed alarm disabling the ignition.
Couldnt get it to start and wouldnt turn over (but the door locks worked when I alarmed so I didnt suspect it)
I thought I had blown the starter, with out any wiring with me to get direct connect it to the battery and no one around to help with a push start ( i turned down the worst road ever ) I had to tow it home.

in the 7 years of owning my red Talon, I have only been permanently stranded with it once, and I kinda knew it was gonna be its last cruise for a bit.

After the Kruise for Kids meet, on the way home.  Flatdecked it.

Other than that, its ALWAYS got me where I needed to go.  ECU crapped out intermittantly once, but it still got me to work and back.

one piston has a smiley face melted in the upper ring land, about 1:30 when viewed from the front of the car.  You can see the rings  ;)

I could have driven it home too had I just disconnected the fuel injector to that cylinder and made sure I kept topping up the oil, but it would have been a long shitty drive from Langley.

it quit while on boost and let out a HUGE cloud of smoke, holy crap!!  I couldn't even see Chel behind me.  Then it pretended to be a Geo Metro or other 3 cylinder car.

its not really that epic  ;)  Its been running on 2.5 cylinders for about a year and a half now.  I knew it was going and was really surprized how long it lasted  :D

I ran a 114mph pass on it at 12.5, twice, I bagged the snot out of it like that for the whole Frazer Valley tour, I drove it to and from work in Abbotsford(75k round trip) etc etc etc.  Really surprizing.  It had 90psi or less in number one and just over 110 in number 2 for over a year.  Hell it even passed aircare really easily when it had 135 in #2 and 110 in #1!!!

on second thought I guess it is epic but in a different way  :)

ahahha  way to get everything you could out of her!!

So did you pull the block to go with a whole fresh rebuild or are you just pulling the head and pan and putting in new pistons/rings etc.  Are you getting the cylinders re-honed or bored out?

what are you going for with internals if any?  Are you doing a BS removal as well?

head is off, waiting for it to warm up a tad to pull the downpipe and pan.

Will be keeping the balance shafts.

the car will be the engine stand  ;)

no lip, no cylinder wall damage so no need for a bore.

glaze breaker hone and clean it up really well.

at least one good piston needed and a set of rings.

MAY get some Wiseco pistons, but I may just get one good used piston.

will replace rod bearings.

The head is getting worked over however  :)  Porting, bronze manganese guides, stainless valves, ti retainers, BC single springs, new stem seals, bigger cams, ARP studs.
