2.5 vs 3.0 exhaust

Why not purchase a 3" muffler as well?  Going to the trouble to fit and weld a 2.5" muffler inlet on a 3" pipe seems silly.  It's just going to create a restriction and turbulance when you get in the higher flow ranges of the piping, which you might never reach, it would depend on your goals.  You're car won't explode or anything, but I wouldn't recommend it.  Why not sell your 2.5", and buy a 3" for $50-100 more, when most people are spending $800+ on a full exhaust.  Usually you regret things you didn't do right hte first time, because the effort would have been less than changing it.

In my case 3" exhaust gave me an awful power band of 4700 to Redline. With anything below 4600-4700 just too slow. However that 's running a 14b @ 15PSI.

As people mentioned above if you planning to go bigger that 16G invest the $ into a 3".

BTW personal opinion is not taken from thin air, and is based on experience of making my own exhaust systems and tuning the car, take it for what it is.

hey art... that awfully small powerband is no longer, it's opened up alot more now, with better low end, especially after the s-afc and the K&N helped a bit, along with flushing the built up oily scum from the intercooler....

yeah that's the way it's looking..

next step probably is to re-route the dump tube into the exhaust..
