i made some paint!

i think this is the 3rd or 4th time ive painted this damn thing. Hopefully it stays this color.

To do a really good job you need to strip off the stock paint. Yes, it is painted. I used a 5 gallon bucket of paint stripper to soak mine in. :P  It came off real easy. You also want to use enamel paint and give many light coats.

and use high heat.  And some high heat clear.

i work at lordco, and i mixed some "Chrysler 4038" and added a some hardener and high temp additives. heres the end product:

Mike, I strongly suggest you get rid of your exhaust manifold and turbo.  You should have known better than to pick up mummified exhaust.  Who knows what kind of curses it will bring upon your house :laugh:

I muffified it after i put it on, and it brings good luck. My alternator doesnt melt anymore, and my hood is never hot. :D

you sanded down the letters after the paint I see, how'd that go? in Mike's little write up he said he tried it that way and chipped the paint so he masked it, but I imagine it would be a lot easier to just sand it afterwords

worked totally fine for me :)

I used a file with the "draw file" technique, not sand paper.

i masked it off, but nothing chipped. i used that green paintingtape stuff that isnt very sticky, and some newspaper. and i let the paint bake in the oven before doing it. Its the 4th time I've done this, so I'm a pro now 8)
