a question for people using maf-t + gm maf
« on: January 24, 2005, 05:24:04 pm »
where did you get your 3.5" (a little bigger actually) to 2.x inch couplers? cause i ordered my 3" gm maf and couplers off ebay, but luckily and not so luckily i got a 3.5 inch maf. bigger must always be better, but not when you ordered 3" couplers the same day. if anyone has them, or knows where they sell them, who are open later than 6 oclock (i have to drive from squamish), let me know.

and

has anyone experienced any problems with taking out the honeycomb?

"Most people mistake this screens purpose as preventing debris from hitting the hot wires in the MAF (that is what the air filter is for). Actually the screen is a bank of straightening vanes used to straighten the airflow before passing by the hot wires. Eddies and vortices (turbulence) in the MAF will cause inaccurate readings. "

from what Ive read the gm maf is good to @ 1000cfm......I wouldnt suggest gutting it just yet.

Home depot racing is fine for some parts, but make sure you match the parts to the application.  Do a little research, and you'll find that the fernco rubber couplers are good for 7.5psi at room temp.  In the engine compartment, you're looking at upwards of 50deg. C ambient temperatures, and 15-20+psi.  Think the coupler will stand up for long?

A custom pipe would be necessary as we only have 3-3.5" couplers

We specifically built a 2.5-3.25 hose for 3" maf and have yet to come across anyone who outflowed a 3" meter

It's probably faster and easier just to return the meter and get the correct one

I don't know of anyone who made a 2.5-3.5 coupler
