After market Turbo Air Intake pipe wanted
« on: January 22, 2005, 05:36:26 pm »
Where and what kind to get? I have a K&N filter on the stock one now ...however I cant find a polished intake pipe for a turbo anywhere that adapts to the computer piece or allows for the wastegate breather hose and other hoses...

Any help is appreciated.

i'm just wondering how much hp gain do u get from the gladman intake pipe compare to others like Injen?...i've seen someone put an injen intake pipe in a gs-t and it made 18 horsepower...and which one costs more

hard to belive 18hp just from the pipe.  Seems a bit odd.  Maybe they added a boost controller at the same time?  Or replaced a VERY plugged paper filter with a K&N, or took off the airbox at the same time?

Not saying its not possible, just seems a bit odd is all.

they dyno'd a 96 eclipse gs-t before and after installing the pipe and filter...i think it was either turbo magazine or import tuner...but yeah, i find it kinda odd too that an intake pipe would give sooo much hp

Either that or they run something like a built stroker with a GT30 and 30psi of boost then put a stock intake tube with the silencer in.  Then switch to the Injen and there you go, 18hp.

I wouldn't expect much power from a hard intake pipe.  I would expect faster spool-up and louder turbo noises tho.
DSMs - fun when they run

but then the weird thing is that the gs-t was at 169 hp at the wheel before they installed it...is that supposed to be at 198 at the wheels?

2g is rated at 215 to the crank, so I'd say 198 is a bit optimistic.

One thing I will say, the stock uncut 2g intake pipe has that hugeass BOV return tube in it.  Stock pipe with that and a plugged up airfilter, swapped out for a K&N, nice intake pipe and an open airbox MIGHT free up some power.

Like when Sport Compact Car adds 100 extra hp and torque to an S2000 and only make it .2 seconds faster in the 1/4?
