Temp went up when doing doughnuts

I was doing doughnuts in the snow again, and I was going really fast, and my temp went up past midway a bit and I stopped, and it went back down...that's my thermostat closing right?

Thats called a barely adequate cooling system, most stock setups will do the same thing under anything other than normal driving.

descale/flush/fill/flush/fill/new stat/new rad cap/watterwetter/more donuts

also check to see if your fan is going on when it should be.

Did you have the front air dam filled with snow? That wouldn't help. But yeah, if your engine will overheat in THIS weather, then you might have a bigger problem than that.
