Lifter question
« on: December 07, 2004, 10:18:04 pm »
Is any one here 100% SURE that the 2G lifter are the same as a 1G LIFTER because i just put the 2G LIFTER in my 1G (1992 Eagle Talon Production date SEPT 1991) and it seem like it has like no compression. I remeber with my oil stock lifter did the same thing still it actually started and then it went to normal. Is that normal for it to do that.

Did you decompress the lifters before install?

The engine functioning goes to normal as the lifters get pressurized and valve lash is correct.

What is your compression?  And what do you mean it seems like it has no compression?  Are you basing this on whether it is starting or not? Or what?

Alright, so i followed the FAQ forum and every thing went well till i started it up. Once again my car runs like a desel. could this problem have to do with the fact that i have a N/T head in it.

I am not sure about issues with a N/T, but one of the reasons it runs like a diesel may be because the lifters have not pressurized enough yet.  So the valve lash adjustment is way off.  I've been told that they take anywhere from a minute or less to half an hour of driving to quiet down.  Mine took closer to a half hour than a minute, and it sounded absolutly horrible in the process.  So assuming everything else is done right, go for a little drive.
