ENGINE LIGHT briefly ON
« on: October 27, 2004, 09:20:49 am »
I saw two things that alarmed me:

1. engine on
2. temperature gauge went minimum

when i saw engine light turn on, pulled over, shut off engine, then checked under the hood. nothing looks out of ordinary (as far as a noob can tell).

i restarted car, engine light was out so i drove away. after a few minutes the temperature gauge went up to normal.

why is this happening? any thoughts?

thanks

bad temp sensor? look around your t-stat housing, two plugs.  firmly connected?

Get a logger :)

I'm with the good Mr Steele on this one.

There are 2 (or more) sensors in ther thermostat housing, each with its own wiring.  One is for the guage and one is for the ECU.  Check the wiring and the sensors via the manual.
