Did you hear a grinding sound before it happened?  My car smoked when my Waterpump died.  Less than fun, I'll tell you that much.

gasket not installed correctly? how much cooland was lost? ( check thermostat housing filler), Is ur car over heating from it? and does ur overflow tank sound like someone is taking a bong hit from it after a good drive?

Inspect all the cooling hoses all of them.

No dont drive the car until you find the leak. (overheating is bad)

Since it is on the front of the enginer there it is doubtful to be the water pump.  Cracked radiator plastic ends tanks or hoses would be my initial guess.  Clean it up and try squeezing the hoses to see if anything comes out.
