I just hacked my air can, removed silencer, and removed BCS. No difference in power at all. I think these free mods are too much hype.

Those mods are worth what you pay for them.

Think of it this way: If you had other things done but not those then you did them you would totally notice gains. Almost every mod is reliant upon others to reach potential. 8)

That's exactly what I was thinking.

You're absolutely right and on top of it now you have to put it all back. What a waste of time.

I'm not putting it back, why would I? I'll just leave it.

get a boost guage, clean your intercooler and make sure you don't have any boost leaks.

change your plugs and make sure they are gapped to .28 and are NGK BPR6(or 7) ES

and put in a tank of 94 octane.

You will notice a difference now.

hey, put the restrictor and silencer back in.  Borrow a Gtech or do some runs at the track, something to get a baseline.

Then do all the free mods, and do the stuff I said.

then run it again.  It will be faster, unless your car is frigged.

the save all ur penies so that you can fix your timing belt, waterpump, ecu from leaky capacitors, diff case, coil pack, leaky bov, worn out brake pads, plug wires, blown clutch through the bellhousing, worn out clutch pedal assembly, hardened valve seals, leaky valve cover gasket kit.

And you know...what ever else might happen the next day.

I already did an extensive tune up, and I have changed caps.

While the removed BCS will improve boost slightly in stock form, when you slap an exhaust on there, it'll be unregulated, and will just spike as high as it can.  Have fun blowing your engine.

The BCS can only restrict boost down from whatever the MBC/EBC/WGA is set to. Half the time the BCS doesn't work properly anyway. :P

in my system, full L&R 3", no cat, it would creep to about 18 psi but only in the higher revs.  Before I got/made a manual boost controller, it would hit about 13 psi when I had the cat in.

Definately not uncontrolled.

there is still a line going to the wastegate actuator from the outlet elbow, the BCS is just t-d into it.
