Official August Meet
« on: July 23, 2004, 02:24:00 pm »
Seeing how August is creeping up, we should probably start planning this meet.  I think this would be the best time for the trip out to Andreas' restaurant in the sunshine coast.  Thoughts?

Seeing how I will in the fraser valley in the first 3 weeks of August, I'd prefer a meet in the GVRD/fraser valley area......

A meet on the Island, although an excellent idea, is most likely impossible for me to do.

That whole ferry thing can get very expensive/time consuming as well........

I'd actually like to make a meet for once.......   8)

But Chris, is your car running?  I thought it was still down and out.  If so, you can always hitch a ride with someone.  If ferry prices are an issue, then we'll have to rethink this idea

Car should be running by the 7th, most likely sooner.

Time is also an issue. Adding a ferry ride to a meet turns it into an all day event.  Don't get me wrong, it would be fun, and I'd like to be able to do it.

But its just that much harder for me to commit to...........

Guys the ferry for the coast are actually not bad you might have one sailling wait. Its definitely not as bad as the Vancouver Island wait. And the ride over is only 35 minutes long.

Which ferry is it?   Rates?

Is it $30 per car + $9 per person  1 way   (didn't know which one....  :? )

2 way total with 2 people is pretty close to $100.

Factor in gas and food, and its a pricey trip.   I don't want to see a meet get out of reach of the average member.

Lots of members are saving money for school, mods or repairs......

Ok - how about this then?
We meet at Petcetera at Grandview and Renfrew by 11:am (I think it's renfrew)
Cruise to Capilano suspension bridge (not too expensive if you want to cross and cool to go on if you have not before), the dam (photos), then cruise to Alouette lake (nice long park road) for a BBQ dinner near the lake shore? (they have bbq stands and tables)

This gives members a chance to see some places they may not yet have been, several stop points, a nice cruise - and food for me

About the ferry you only have to pay one way.
just to get to the coast, and its 38 bux for car and driver.
You have to take the langdale ferry from horseshoe bay.

Isn't Sechelt on the mainland?  You just can't get there by road so you take a little ferry hop.  Like Andreas said, you only pay one way.

I'm probably in for any meet though.
