Guess who's back!
« on: May 16, 2004, 01:42:06 am »
Well, I finally got my car back :D

Thank you Mr. Ryan Lore and Mr. Mike Meron for putting it together, and Mr. Lowell Foo for helping me tune it.

The exterior is still the same, as many of you have seen before:

But the big difference, is the motor ;)

Mike Meron is very proud of the rad hose, since he built it himself ;)

And trust me when I say this, this motor looks MUCH better in person, ask Ryan, Lowell, Mike, Andrew Steele, or Jared Clark... it is unreal when you look at it in person, the pictures do not do it justice!

The mods include:
T3/T4 60-1 stage 5 turbo
Tial 40 big blue wastegate with SS dump tube (vented)
o2 elimination, striaght 3" downpipe with bung for o2.
Custom tubular header
poly urethane motor mounts
DSMLink v2
75 lbs/hour (790cc/min) injectors
SS intake and intercooler piping
1g throttle body
AEM big brake front and rear rotors cross drilled and slotted (12.5" front)

Car goes insanly fast now, and spool is not to bad either. The turbo starts to spool at 3000 rpm, and hits full boost by 4000-4500 rpm. At 15psi, I already notice a difference when compared to my 16G at 20psi. After reading the CE code, I realized my coolant sensor was broken and was reading a constant -40 degrees temperature, causing the ecu to think the motor was cold and making it dump more fuel in, hence making it run rich. On close inpection, the wire for the sensor had been cut close to the ecu, and an orange wire had been attached to it and run to somewhere up the dash by the sterring column. Well I just re-attached the old wire which went to the sensor, and also kept the orange wire attached just in case it actually served a purpose.

Thanks to lowell, I have my new turbo now tuned for 20 psi and holy crap    it goes like hell. Pushes me right back into the seat and doesn't let go, the turbo feels like it can just keep on pulling. 20 psi and no knock on pump gas (94 octane) ;)

Unfortunately, after tuning, I got a little to happy and decided to do a launch in front of L&R. Revved the car to the rev limiter set at 5250rpm, and dropped the clutch. All 4 tires instantly spun out of control as they screetched and smoked like crazy. Kept spinning them right through first gear, wheel hopping like crazy, and then slammed it into second gear and ripped down the street. If you go look right in front of L&R, the four black tire marks are mine :D. But sadly, after slowing down and coming to a stop, I hear a tick tick tick tick coming from the engine bay. At first I thought crankwalk, but on closer inpsection, found it to be something in the tranny, I believe I chipped a tooth off the input shaft because the sound goes away when the clutch is in, and the ticks increase with revs. Also, the ticks are faster in 1st gear and then slow down as you get into higher and higher gears, even when the car is turned off and rolling, it still ticks through the gears. So now it looks like I'll have to pull the tranny out...  AGAIN

If I didnt love my car so damn much, I would sell it, I swear. I am so close to selling it right now, getting fed up with all the money its costing me... but I just love the damn thing so freakin much!

I'll take some better pics of it tommorow

took some more pics today.... turned out a little better:

Rear Brakes

Front Brakes

Damn I get a little to camera happy, I gotta stop taking pics.

Hopefully I can get my tranny fixed before the FVT, I dont think its a good idea to be driving to much on a fucked up input shaft. Maybe I should look into one of those Synchroless transmissions :D

That reminds me, your front brakes are only 12.5"?  YOu should get the hookup from Jerry for a set of fronts, his are 13.1" ;)
