Wheel alignment issues after lowering
« on: April 26, 2004, 04:44:40 pm »
Needless to say, after the alignment was checked, they refused to touch the car.....   EDIT: Oh yeah, and Canadian Tire refused to even check it.....

Basically, everything is out of spec, except castor, which is just barely in spec.

Whats worst is my rear camber,  -4.3 on the drivers side    and -3.5 on the passenger side.

Should I go for those Ingall's Engineering adjustables, or is there another solution?

Anybody got some 1G rear upper control arms they wanna sell me cheap?

Remove your stock uppers, cut in half and add more... chicken soup out of chickenshit. :)

Ryan Lore would be able to describe it in detail as he has done quite a few over the years.

Hey Chris, with my Sportlines I had similar problem, we winstalled new poly urethane in the rear, new eccentric bolts and got as close as possible, i was riding originally -4 1/32 on my driver side in rear and -3 1/16 on passenger side in rear.  We fired it back in after everything was said and done, they got it to 3 1/32 on both sides which is 1/32 outta spec.  Close enough for me, unless you wanna get lowell to put a groove in the rear.

i cannot say for the front of mine, because i didnt have to do any mod's to the front, it was pulled into spec by the alignment shop, but the REAR's a can speak for.

What the Mr. Foo did on mine was pull the lower control arm in, instead of extending the upper. However yes this does result in the tire sitting a little but further IN, rather than out. I made up for this by adding a spacer to the back (and only recently i did that because with the new rims/tires it was bugging me).

How you ask? After removing the inner bolt (near the diff) on the lower control arm, he used a grinder to grind the hold onto an oval (essentially) and of course the hold was extended towards the diff, therefore when we bolted it back up, we added a washer to each side of the bolt (important pieces!) and it pulled the lower control arm in.

Then the alignment shop can adjust the camber, then when the camber was set properly, Mr Foo welded the washers to the lower control arm, thus never having to align it again. (unless the ride height changes)

If this makes sense, great, if not my fingers hurt for no reason.
