Oil light flickering on gauge cluster
« on: April 23, 2004, 12:51:18 pm »
My oil light flickers under mild acceleration, or mild braking.. It's only happened recently. I just had an oil change topped up with 5w 30 oil, and it's still happening. Some sort of loose sensor maybe? Or a loss in oil pressure? Any help would be appreicated.. Thanks!!

Most likely the wire that connects to the oil pressure is jiggling around.  Check that out.

Later, Vlad.
all go, no show!

Ugh, it's constantly getting worse. It's now almost steady on. What's odd though is it's usually only under boost conditions, and when i blow off it mimics the bov, as in, blinks in the same fashion the air is being let out. Also when braking .. But not at idle. I also stall more frequently not only at stops, but when highway driving as well!! And when i leave my tt running, it'll randomly stall! I really don't get this.. Could this be a vacuum leak? But if it was , why would the oil light go on?! What's the possibilities of this problem, oil pressure wise. Like a listing of parts to check.. I'm running out of ideas. I checked m y UIC pipe and refastened all the couplings and such, as they were prone to blowing off. My BOV works fine. It IS vented to atmos, but I've ran it that way for over a month now with no problems. It keeps coming to oil pressure, I think. Anyways, if someone could answer at least some of my questions, it'd be much appreciated!!

Are you sure its your oil light and not the low coolant light?  If it is your oil light, why not throw a litre of oil in and see if it goes away.

Definitely the oil light. I've already had an oil change.. and it did nothing. :(

David, get an external oil pressure guage on that thing so you can be sure.  If you drive it with low oil pressure your gonna fug it up.
