very annoying problem...please help
« on: February 12, 2004, 07:09:42 pm »
1) my car eats gas...don't know why..and it lets off a lot of fumes..and stinks up the whole garage, and when its just idling it stinks too..

2) when you disengage the clutch when the rpm is above 2, the meter on the gauge will just drop all the way down..and wont go back up, and stall the car, but this is preventable by just breaking while in gear and put to neutral just before coming to a complete stop, but i want to know why the car stalls like that, which shoudln't happen, and if these 2 problems are linked in some way?

thx

are you venting your blow off valve?

are there any intake pipe leaks?

or am I barking up the wrong tree and you have a non turbo engine?

well, first off, run your bov return line back into the intake.

I think that will do ALOT for you.

Yea it wont sound as cool, but it will run alot better and it will get you much better mileage.

Not to mention your car will run alot cleaner.

yep, see the thing is, your ECU had already calculated fuel based on that air, and when you dump that air out, your computer doesnt know that and it still puts the fuel in for it.  So its WAY WAY too rich for a little bit.

Stick a pipe back on there man, its way nicer to drive like that.

i dunno know bout you guys, But im venting into the atmosphere and I run just fine. I got me a blitz DD BOV and my idle is set at about 800 - 850 rpm and im fine. Ill admit that the idle is only a tiny winy bit rough but totally bearable. and I dont stall at all.

The only Times I would Stall is if I took my car out when its frozen (under 3degrees) and take off right away without lettiing my car warm up.
But I do bog just a bit in 1st when I start moving from a complete stop, but not that often.

But thats me.  Maybe its time for a blitz BOV Howard. :)

Some cars just respond differently to having it vented to ATM.  It's okay on some cars, it's not on some, maybe you just need to tighten up your spring in your blitz if it's opening with idle vacumn.

Fact is, please read through the 1000FAQ, and you'll know a lot of the basic knowledge you need to make your DSM run better.

When does your engine 'tick' ?

If you're idling, and you push the clutch in, does the clicking get louder or more pronounced?  Do your RPM's drop when you push the clutch in while idling?  What kind of clutch/pressure-plate setup are you running?

yeah my rpm drops when i clutch in and then goes back up..and if it drops from over 2000rpm then it stalls...

clicking..i dunno..it just clicks at idle..and when i rev it clicks faster..vice versa
