Big Problem
« on: February 09, 2004, 09:37:59 pm »
So friday i am leaving to go to the ferry, and i am slowing down to go over a speed bump and my car just quits.  It wouldn't start it just kept cranking over and over.  So i got it towed to a garage and they went through everything.  They found there was power going into my computer but nothing coming out, and when they pulled it apart there was corrosion and oxidization on the circuit board.  They also told me that there was a weak signal comin out of the crank sensor.
Has anyone else had any problems like this?
or have any suggestions?
thanx
Jeff

sounds like a case of leaky caps.  Depending on the extent of the damage, you may need to replace your ECU.

Hey Jeff, I go to BCIT and drive fairly close to L&R every weekend. If you want I could meet you on campus to grab the ecu and drop it off at L&R on friday. Call Lowell and make sure he has time to look at it first, though.

if its not too far gone, Lowell and Tommy can make it chug along again.

And Robin just looks like that because he lives in Surrey.  you HAVE to look tough out there, or you get the beats.

Out here in the Wack, you can grow your hair all curly like Kevin and its perfectly OK :D

I would definitly have the replacement ECU checked, for cap leakage, and I would definitly recommend replacing the caps.  This is a common problem.
I'm on ECU number three.
Most likely the old one can be repaired.  Done a few myself.
