exhaust leak

I have a few holes in my flexpipe. it's sorta loud and sounds pretty lame. do you figure i'm losing much power from this? also, do you need to have flex pipe there? or can solid pipe be put in instead?

Thanks

it MIGHT disrupt airflow a bit, but more than likely you're gaining power from having holes in your flex pipe :D

the flex section is strongly reccomended; things move around a fair bit on these cars, and you'd rather dish out the extra cash for a flex section than break welds and crack the exhaust manifold

You NEED the flex pipe.  Otherwise you will be breaking manifolds/welds/etc etc.  You will probably lose a little power.  Holes like that generally do more to disrupt rather than to increase airflow.

Clearly, since we're all cheap SOBs and you *do* need that flexpipe, and it *is* leaking you should just hacksaw the rest of the exhaust off at the flex pipe, flow will be increased, weight will be reduced, and power will abound   :D

Sure there might be a side effect or two but who doesn't like wearing hearing protectors when they drive?  Or getting crazy headrushes and blurred vision when you're stopped?
