New race fuel!
« on: February 08, 2004, 11:46:55 am »
They just invented this new race fuel:

* 105 - 110 octane
* Leaves no carbon buildup inside the motor
* Can be used with conventional and wb o2 sensors
* Produces 50% less CO and HC's that regular unleaded
* In BC, vehicles running it are exempt from aircare, do not need and egr or cat.
* Just came on sale for 60c/L

Who can guess the new mystery fuel?

John wins!

Yeah, I've been throwing that idea around.  My girlfriend wont let me put it on the talon though, so I'm gonna try it on my dead sprint. If it doesnt drive, at least it'll burn!

I think that with a high pressure pump and  CNG injector(s) it could work good.

Where would you put the tank?  Some of those truck/van propane installs are pretty scary... tanks outside the frame rails and often hanging below them... eeks  :?

There's a truck in town here, that has two tanks mounted side by side, lengthwise with the long axis of the vehicle, underneath, near the back.

From the back you just see......well....dogs balls......

I guess its a male truck.

Dual gas/propane..dangerous if you let the gas run out and then just run propane.  Apparently, if you're running a dual-fuel truck, it's best to leave 1/4 tank of gas in if you're gonna run propane...if you get in to an accident, it's more likely to burn, and less likely to BOMB.

That would be so awesome.  Have a valve on the rear of the car under the liscence plate or something and just back up to a bbq for all those car meets.  8)

You could also put a hose on to fill up your tires or pressure test your intake, the possibilities are endless

Honestly, it would be cool if it worked, not something I'm gonna pioneer though.

back in Ukraine my dad used to run a propane in his Lada.  it was a hatch so he mounted the tank behind the rear seat.  he would switch between gas/propane with a just a flick.  with full tank of gas and full tank of propane he would travel over 1000kms which was always nice for road trips.  never had any issues with gas leakage or anything.  infact, my dad preferred running on propane most of the time because the car ran so much better on it.  i think the only time he would use gas is to start it up on a cold morning.

Haha, explosive gas in the tires.. I dont know about that.

It could make going over a spike strip that much more interesting.

Problem with that is propane drops pressure radicaly as the temp goes down. At -40 c , Propane cant even force itself out of a tank.  Your tires would be flat every time it got cold out, then they would explode when they warmed up.
