Help with pistons.
« on: February 02, 2004, 06:57:36 pm »
Dumb question, but how do I go about pressing the wrist pins out of my pistons and reinstalling them so they dont just slide out on their own?
Can I just press them in, then use a punch to make a tiny ridge so they dont slide?

Thanks

Well a full floater wrist pin you just pull the retainer in the piston and slide it out but I think ours are press fit... so...

I think you might have to heat it to get it out... I know when you install them there's fancy little rod ovens that heat the piston end of the rod so the wrist pin drops in.
DSMs - fun when they run

Yes, but they do not just drop in, you still have to use the press with the heat.
