Okay, first off, it's n00b.  And second, seriously, man, MSN me.  I can lecture for hours.

Okay.  Our bolt pattern is 5x114.3 (5 bolts, spaced evely apart 114.3mm across from each other...I think),a nd our offset, is I think either 38 or 42.  Can't remember what the offset is.  If you have a set of rims in mind, ask if they'll fit, and someone'll give you a good answer.  :)

The bolt pattern is 5-114.3mm or 5-4.5in. For an upgrade, you want to use an offset thats around 40mm, depending on the width of wheel. For a tire, you want to use something in the range of 25 inches overall diameter. ie: 225/45R17, 225/40R18.

Hey Wally, since you are probably the best guy to ask, what is the maximun size tire you can fit on 17 x 7 rims.  I have 225's but just wondering how much bigger i could go.
arting out Car, check the parts store for parts and prices!

30% over rim width has been a recommended ideal max, that would be 225 for 7".
You can run larger, but it is not recommended.

I wouldnt suggest trying to go bigger on a 7 inch wide wheel. 225/45R17 is already wider then supposed to be on that wheel. For the best fit with that tire size, you want to use a 7.5 or 8 inch wheel. If you want to go wider, probably best to go with a wider wheel.

Another question for you Wally, which size is the best to run on stock 17"s?  215/55? 205/55? 205/60? 215/45? or 225/45?

Here is a tire calculator.

Input the stock size on one side, and the size you want on the other.

It will give you all the variances you need to know. - The closer to 0% difference, the better.

Wow, that is a really cool calculator, i was always wondering how fast i was going with my tires being a smaller diameter.
It says when my speedo reads 100kph i am travelling 93.5kph big difference there.
i have 205/45/16's
