Swapping manifolds....what bolts?
« on: December 02, 2003, 09:13:42 pm »
ok....

i'm going to be swapping in my 2g manifold this christmas break....

people always say that their bolts break when taking out the manifold....i'm just wondering what a safe number of bolts would be to have w/ me for the swap and which bolts?

problem....i don't have my car or manual w/ me so i can't take a look underneath the hood.  Also, I can get them very cheap from a dealer here in alberta so that's why i want to make an estimation on how many bolts i need.

thanks for any help you can give me...

if i get a 2g exhuast gasket kit....will it work? or will i have to get a 1g 02 housing gasket?

cheers

The bolts that break are the studs and nuts that bolt the mani to the head. Most people break 2-3 so I would have 3-4 ready as well as a stud puller and heli-coils because they break in all manner of ways.

When you do it lube the hell out of them for a few days prior.

I found that the bolts were pretty much dealer only and I didn't want to risk any cheap out solutions, so I bit my lip and paid $9 each I think.
I'm still missing one and have a tiny leak because I had no Heli-coils. Don't let that happen to you guys.
