Hey Chris, next time you get pulled over, ask the cop "Hey, are you Skidmark?" :D

or maybe you just need to adjust the cables; I had trouble finding 5th/reverse, and I adjusted the cables and it works fine now.

I think I kind of know who he is too. Works for central island hwy patrol out of Parksville. Seems a nice kind of guy. I've enjoyed playing devils advocate to his cop law on RS a few times.

pop your hood under your intake there is a bracket that holds your shifter cables on your tranny. Make sure the bracket is tight and everything seems solid and theres no broken cables.  If everything is tight then take off your center console (peice around shifter) and you will see there are two adjustment nuts one on each cable,  move your shifter side to side and the cable that moves is the one you want to adjust.  Your going to want to shorten the length of the cable.  that should solve your problem.

Aaron, thats a good point, but the side to side one may not be the only one that is an issue.  If the fore and aft adjustment is not right, you will not be able to push or pull the cable and therefore the arm, far enough to engage the gear in question.

there is good stuff in the vfaq on this, I did it and its way better.

Also look at your clutch master and slave cylinders and the adjustment on the master.

When I changed my clutch master and slave it made a huge difference.  I could actually put it in gear without praying to the gods first.
