Interior LED's
« on: January 05, 2015, 12:41:30 am »
Anybody done an LED swap for the dash cluster, buttons, climate control etc.....

I'm looking to change my lighting to blue LED's

A direct fit replacement would be perfect but there are quite a few different bulbs so getting all of them may be a little bit hard.

Thanks

My buddy did his 300zx and he was saying that he used LED strips for the gauge cluster. Looks super nice. There is a DSM write up in tuners I think.

Yes, thanks.  I found a couple postings last night.  Need to do a bit more research but it looks pretty good that I can get all the lights I need.  I'll post more when I confirm.

I have LED interior lights but not the tiny cluster lights, make a lot of difference. So much brighter especially the one in the trunk. Thinking of upgrade the exterior lights.

just remember... not all LED's are created equal.  I ordered some through e-bay before for my Galaxie but had to add solder to all the nubbins at  the bottom.  The sheet metal they are made of was so thin that as soon as you tried to put them into their sockets the base would essentially collapse in on itself.

superbrightleds.com has what your looking for. I even found white turn signal lights that flash yellow when signal is engauged for my clear head lights. You can talk to blackcatcustom.ca as well he might already have a kit put together for the gauge cluster.

I did Red LED's in mine.

The LED's didn't fit directly in, and made for some hot spots in the cluster.
We did the same for Brandon Dietrich's car too, with Blue LED's and from what I remember it looked pretty sick with Blue.
I did red cause my car is red. He did blue cause his car was white.

The LED's we got were cheepo Ebay ones, and they burnt out after a few months. But for $5 for 20 LED's (when you only need like 8) I didn't complain. Not like it's too hard to take out the cluster and replace them again. But better LED's would be recommended. or as mentioned, do LED strips.
