sure Marke, thats a good precaution.  Knowing that it will be high tho, so no panicking  :)  Just make sure you do the second leak down and talk about those numbers as the ones pre breakin will be bad.

As for the head, I think there is damage to the head itself as well!  It looks like some material is melted out behind the valve too.  even the edge of the spark plug.  Thats a good burn!!

I would take the head to a shop and have the seats cut, stem seals put in and checked for sealing and see if it has any warpage, minimum.

when they take it apart they can see if a seat cut will get rid of the damage or if its effed.

its a big and kind of expensive job to re and re a head properly, so you may as well at least cover your bases while its off.

I am sure I have a valve around somewhere you can have.

thats a good one!  Hopefully pieces of the valve didn't hit the turbine blades in the turbo.  !!  you can see some of the blade tips if you look down the turbine housing.  to see the whole turbine though, you have to remove the o2 housing from the side of the turbo which can sometimes be difficult in car if the bolts are siezed.

meh, if it spins freely(spin the cold side by hand), then I say go for it.

If it makes wierd noises and doesn't make much boost, well, thats how it goes.  If not, wohooo!

the threaded one is very nice to have.  Not essential, but very nice.  If you miss the tension, and have to re do it, its way way easier if you can just thread the tool in.

also if you want to do cams or cam seals etc, all you have to do is take the tension off with the lower cover still on, and all the regular belts on etc.

its m8 yes.

I would at least put some sort of something on both ends tho.  the small end needs to be cleaned up at least and the top end needs to have a nut on it at least to use a wrench on it.

If you were closer I could getcha one of mine.  I weld the nut on it nicely on top and round the bottom end off so it doesn't cause issues on the other end.

oh, just go get redi-rod and weld on a nut and clean up the other end.

Making that is just silly.
