Honda Fuel pump issue
« on: August 15, 2012, 12:34:56 pm »
Hey I've gott a question about a Honda fuel cut issue , so I posted kinda the same thread awhile ago but have done some more looking into the problem , so when the fuel is just under half a tank the car will sputter when coming to a stop or taking a corner , and sometimes stall out , I checked the sending unit (fuel gauge) in the tank and it seems to be working fine ,as well as every time I go to fill up it only seems like it fills up half the tank , with 20$-25$ fill up's. Now could this be caused by a fuel pump wearing out ? Or something like the fuel pickup line been shifted ?

Help ?

I will add to Jasons post.

If you have an Si, you have to get an Si pump/parts.

We had a guy who brought his car in to us for a VERY low power complaint. It would start and idle but if you gave it more than just the lightest throttle it would bog and buck really badly.  Pretty much not driveable.

Him and his buddy put a new(used) pump in and wouldn't let us put in another one even tho we knew the pressure wasn't right. "I just put that pump in there its perfect"

We finally convinced him that the pressure was wrong.  We ordered an Si pump because his car was an Si and had the multiport engine in it.

the new pump was WAY bigger in physical size.  We immediately knew why he was having this problem.  The little wee girly pump couldn't hold pressure off idle.  Of course they messed up all the wiring putting the wrong pump in, so we had to fix that too, but the car ran perfectly once we put the correct pump and sock in there for him.

SI also have bigger knuckles in the front. you can use them on lesser models.

and a multiport engine etc etc, but not really related to a fuel pump issue  ;)
