The 90 filter housing has a built in thermostat.  Turbo motors make plenty of heat so warming the oil is not a problem.  I'm sure plenty of heat is picked up from the oil circulating through the turbo bearing housing as well as the piston oil squirters.

Ditch the oil/water heat exchanger, it just dumps more heat into an already overstressed cooling system.  90 OFH, biggest and best core you can afford.  My cruising oil temps sit around 90C.

Now adding an oil cooler to my to-do list along with power steering cooler and trans cooler.  Any suggestions for a good/great oil cooler core that fits the 2G?

extreme psi has a b&m kit with nice AN fittings and line for under 200bucks.. thats where i got mine.

if you're 7 bolt you'll need an e3 oil filter housing, which makes it 300 bucks total... or if you're cheap ziggy at rtm has a sandwich adapter that will go between your oil filter and housing with threads in it.. have to check oil filter to DP clearances though..

If you do buy from extremepsi... xpsi-fb1 is a coupon code for another five bucks off.

Personally i never complete a cooling system service without using a proper evac tool. Would also suggest pressure testing the system, may reveal a leak or an area of concern. Evac tool, would be a bit of money to buy and it runs off shop air. Might be able to get someone to lend you a pressure tester, as it is essentially just a hand pump. I know most people have perfect success with the burping technique, personally i find in many vehicles, especially after something has been replaced, there are passages that you simply could not "burp", so i always evac.

Thanks, from a bit of research it looks like Setrab is likely the best (Mocal and Fluidyne also seem to be respected).  I've seen several posts where people have found gains by switching from a B&M to a Setrab.  Also checking the sizing charts for horsepower and cooler size suggests anything we can fit on our DSM side openings isn't really big enough unless we use two coolers.

B&M is worlds apart from Setrab/Earls etc.  Problem is the price difference is worlds apart!  As usual, you get what you pay for so expect to spend $300+ for a top quality core.

The Setrab is tempting but until you start doing time attack runs at Tsukuba settle for b&m and spend the extra on more mods. :)

Good price.

Ultra sonic cleaning would be worth considering if you don't know it's history. :)

Don't expect the oil cooler to solve your water cooling issue..

I run a 4inch ETS FMIC and an ebay aluminum radiator w/two fans rewired to push..

I understand there are fans with special blades for pushing but I haven't had any issues.

The stock fans with the factory shroud works the best if you can fit them.

The problem for me is sustained power output at low relative speeds.  Like a lapping day at a short circle track.

It's your $$$.

If the b&m doesn't meet your oil cooling needs sell it here for a steal, then get a used Setrab.  ;)
