Cars running hot well according to the gauge norm.....
« on: July 16, 2012, 05:00:31 pm »
So I installed a standard blue streak brand temp sensor and car won't start?
Tried another one still won't start went back to old sensor runs fine but I think it's reading the water temp wrong
According to my laser temp gauge! My question is.... Is this oem part only?

shouldnt be...   there are two or three or 4 different sensors.

one for the pcm, one for the gauge, and one for the radiator (mounted in the rad).  if you have a/c you will also have one for that also.  dont get them mixed up!!!

Interesting! i can see two in my thermostat housing one is single wire (gauge) and other one is for the ecu i believe. this is the one that causes the  no start if i use aftermarket. i have an aluminium rad so nothing in there! and i always thought that the ecu controls the fans? since i can set them to come on at whatever temp i want via the ecu!

I think if u have a 2g then u have 2 sensors. 1 for gauge and 1 for pcm.

Check to make sure your fans are even coming on. The gauge could be accurate and your fan itself might not be coming on. Ive had that before, where I swore my temps were a little above normal. Turned out my rad fan wasnt even coming on. Easy to test.

The ecu needs the temp signal, that's why no start. Remove the gauge sensor and replace it with the new gauge sensor and use that.
I've replaced my stock temp gauge and it works fine and starts fine.

Later, Vlad.
all go, no show!

Speaking of fans...take ur ac belt off and press that little snowflake on ur dash, then both fans will run 24/7.
