I GOT MY BABY BACK!!!!!
« on: May 10, 2012, 08:29:46 pm »
WOOOHOOOO!!!!!

She's back!!!!
With a new clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, motor mounts, clutch fork, shifter shims, etc.

Matt also found out why I sucked on the dyno on that dyno day, 2 turbo leaks, can you imagine.

Well the tires light up at the slight touch of the throttle. And go................wowwee.

Too much fun!!!!

One little question....my clutch engages about an 1" of the floor, anyway to adjust it up just alittle.
Really easy to stall at the lights, but I will get use to it.

Thanks everyone, for any help ;D ;D

On a 2g there's a pedal adjustment under the dash. I think it's a 8mm or a 10mm wrench you need. Loosen the lock nut and adjust. Then tighten lock nut.
I would try bleeding your clutch one more time first though.

i think its a 12mm nut holding the adjuster rod tight on DSM's (1G, or 2G).  Its sorta a tough job to get at it on either as you habe to crawl under the dash and be upside down and backwards...  not the funnest thing to do.

true... just get used to it!  as it wears you will notice the pedal come up over time...  do the break in first, drive it for a few weeks and see how it feels after that.

The biggest 2 issues I have with my lexus, is the super soft clutch and the throttle doesnt go when you press it, theres a delay for "comfort"

fack!

Jason, I believe hks makes an adj throttle-by-wire controller that helps reduce the "comfort" delay. I found it about a year ago online ... I want to say its around $300 US. And it's NOT a old  jdm gadget.

Lore, let's hope your afrs lean out to where they should be compared the 9s your where hitting in boost last time I saw your car on the dyno.

There are also some free mod's you can do.
I tightened the throttle cable already.
I need to go under the pedal and remove the soft spring and put a solid one in.
BUT IM LAZY!

I agree with Jason and Brett.  Let it break in a bit and get used to it.  If you adjust it too far up, it might end up not being fully engaged when the pedal is up all the way.

You are just used to a worn clutch.  this is how its supposed to be(if its adjusted right anyways).  Make sure there is some free play in the pedal too, before it starts to engage at the top (clutch out)

I'm not going to touch the clutch, took about 10 mins to get use to it.

Now, if only I wouldn't leave so much rubber on the road, lol ;D ;D ;D

These aren't that old ;D

Maybe next year, or if I could find some 18" wheels, then I could use
the good new tires I had bought for my Tiburon.

But my 18"s won't fit the eclipse :'(

I knew you were gonna say that!

Tires are not all about age, or even how much tread is left.

Tire compound is probably one of the biggest factors in how much stick they have.

Second would be tread design.

A tire with a treadwear rating of 160-220 will be very sticky and one with large tread blocks will have the most surface area.

Very generalized, but its a start.

think she means she doesn't want to spend the dough on new tires when she has ones with good treadlife left :p
She lives.
