No spark change everything but ECU
« on: April 09, 2012, 10:20:20 pm »
Moved battery to rear.
Drove around for 10 ten minutes then the
Car died in the middle of the street. No spark (based on factory tach and the motor turns over and over )

Motor cranks over fine,, I can see the cams turning.
I have changed PW, coil, CAS..  All items were tested on my car before.

update!! I now verify there is no spark.

How do you test an AEM EMS??

Can the test be done with test light probe?
Do I need to crank the engine for this test or just turn the ignition on?
Where is the injector relay?

If no injector pulse.....Will the ignition still spark?? (AEM EMS)

I am beginning to think the problem is wire related , however I don't where to start.

you will need to crank it.

you will most likely need a set of 'noid lights to test for pulse.  Tho a datalogger should be able to do it.

John is correct, a normal test light will not work.  You will need the proper "noid light" to plug into the injector plug and test, and as they said before, you will have to crank the engine while watching.  A remote starter switch would be a good thing to have when doing these tests by yourself.

you can see the noid light thru the gap between the hood and engine bay from inside.

Slightly off topic, but I have seen so many issues from battery relocation kits.  By the time you buy a battery box plus cutoff switch and spend all the time running heavy cables, vent tube, drilling holes in the car etc. you could almost buy one of these:

My CF B2015c battery has little cranking power left...
Hence the rear mount battery install.

My car ran for some time before it died in the middle of the street.
Can the AEM EMS help me pinball the problem?

Does the ECU kill the spark if it does not detect an injector pulse?

ECU will shut off the fuel pump if it loses the rpm signal.  Does the EMS show good battery voltage?

I will test it tomorrow after work.. My autometer volt gauge shows just more than 12 volts in start postion with tons of cranking power.
Bottom line is I need to get some spark going somehow.

Quoted for Truth. I did a rear conversion with an Optima redtop, was almost that much.

I looked at the Lithium Ion batteries when I was getting my new one, but they are too pricey for this guy...

Hey John, I thought you already had a Braille battery with the carbon fiber shell?  How much does it weigh? (Model?)

I have a Braille, but not a LiOn one!

and its some sorta composite, not CF.  I believe I have the 11lb one, but possibly the 15lb one.

its WAY better than the Odessy was.
