Whats causing my tires to blow out repeatedly on the same corner?

My rear-right corner on my 95 Eagle Talon TSi AWD keeps eating through tires. Besides the obvious explanation that the wheel itself is bent/cracked causing it to leak, is there anything else that might be causing this?

The tire has gone completely flat 3 times now. I've limped to back home and to tire shops. I suspected an issue with the right-rear wheel after the second time, but both tire shops I had it at did not notice an issue with it.

I still think it could be the wheel itself, but is there anything else that might be causing these flats?

Just wanted to get some input before I drop several hundred on a new set of wheels and tires.

if its going flat then

if its leaking then u have to find out where....  air the tire up to 40 psi and then get a spray bottle with dish soap and water in it.  Then with the tire off the car, spray the tire and rim (inside too) everywhere.  If there is a leak it will cause small bubbles to form where the leak is.

Whoops, didn't word that properly. I've already gone through 2 new tires and this would be the third. All my new tires keep going flat.

Rotate the wheels, see if it follows. If it does its your wheel, if its not its either bad luck or someone hates you and is letting your air out

Could be a leaking valve stem or something around the fitting. As Brett said, find the leak and go from there.

so neither of the 3 tires shops just dipped the setup into their water bath to check for leaks like is normal procedure after mounting and balancing a tire? Cause that's usually a pretty decisive test.

Thanks guys. Ryan, I took a look at what I could see of the wheel, so far haven't spotted anything out of place. 4" gash on the back side of the tire.

Taking it to a shop to get a conclusive answer to this issue. I'm hoping nothing from the suspension or anything like that is causing this issue.

Tire shop says they didn't find anything wrong with the wheel. No cracks. However, they found that the tire had a patch, and it was close to the sidewall. So it's likely that it's another bad tire..3 of them now. Or maybe it really is gremlins.

Is it possible its something drivetrain or suspension related?

Kevin, why did you not bring it to me?  I know you, your car and I do lots of tire work too.

This way its someone with an interest in the car, not just some random stranger.

Also, your suspension is completely borked.  It COULD be wearing the tire somewhere due to rubbing.  But I would have looked into that if I had the car in my bay for the repair.

Sounds like a good idea, John. I thought it might've been something to do with suspension too, but I looked at the tire and it didn't look like it had been rubbing on the suspension.

Problem isn't solved yet, so I'll put on the spare and limp it over to you. Or should I get it on a flatbed?

you could also bring the offending wheel/tire in with another car and let me try to find a culprit.

Yes sir. Just checked again, and it's at 35 PSI.
