Okay, don't try and fix the cracks.
The only way you'll see a smooth finish on a composite piece is when it comes from the factory - They lay down the gelcoat that you see on top of the hood first thing on top of the mold - That's how it gets its' good finish. Then the rest of the cf/fg/resin is laid up on top of that.
Especially on a very very cosmetic peice, where you can't simply paint over the repair and get a decent finish regardless of whats under it, you'll want to avoid screwing with it.
I'd attempt to feather the edges out slightly, then take it to a bodyshop and have them clear it. Perhaps twice, or as neccessary until the cracks aren't visible. Feather - clear- sand - clear - wetsand - clear.
It's not a small task, especially on a hood with vents and details to work around. But it's the only way to get it looking right without it obviously being a repair.
