need help with clutch problem
« on: August 30, 2011, 11:02:43 pm »
was boosting it in second then tried going into third and it felt like there was no clutch. its a pretty stiff clutch when it works. then it would still go into the gears with out the clutch up until i went to a full stop.

i looked underneath and it was dripping clutch fluid. when i step on the clutch it goes right back up. could it be a thowout bearing? fork? or can it be just a clutch hydraulic line?

If it was dripping from the front its your slave cylinder.
If its dripping near the firewall on the drivers side its your master cylinder.
If its dripping anywhere in between its your clutch line.

going to venture a guess and say slave, or line....my master went awhile back the pedal would not come back up unless  you grabbed it with you hand.
ahah we both have a good side. lets sue each other!

Does this ever happen on left turns? Make sure your crankshaft hasn't walked out:( also check out Jack's Transmissions.com these guys know everything about drivelines. Watch the movie on how to set clutch pedal height and read everything they talk about.

The most common hydraulic system failure  for the clutch is usually the slave cylinder....  If it leaks it will drip onto the middle crossmember and flow backwards and end up dripping down back near the rear of the transmission.

Luckily the slave is easy enough to change.... the master is a bit harder but still not impossible for your average joe.

if its leaking its a hydraulic problem first and foremost.  Of course there could be something else, but fix that first and it will probably take care of the problem.

Without the leak, yes, check other things, but the leak is a great clue.

like Jason said on location.

get a new part, bleed it correctly and drive away happy  :)
