HELP, can start, but runs rough won't idle

Just a quick recap of my situation:

Got engine from parts car. Engine was supposedly running when car was wrecked. It appears timingmark plate was placed incorrectly, but as engine was running in this state, I believe that Cam timing is correct. I checked compression, and all cylinders are >160psi. Even after start/run there is no cam/piston contact; I checked compression again to be sure.

Transplanted engine into rallyX. For this I used MY original CAS, throttle-body, alternator, fuel rail & injectors - all known good.

I have spark & have checked wire order. I have good fuel pressure. The car will start, but runs crappy. Vacuum gauge show early timing, but adjusting CAS to either limit improves or makes worse the behaviour but does not totally clear the problem. I don't know what else to look for or test.

retime the valves.  Or at least remove the upper cover and check it against the lower crank pulley TDC mark.

Best to pull that lower cover tho and make sure all the marks are in order.

Also with the CAS, it can be put in 180 out but its usually not a real noticable deal.

Did the TPS get moved?

check (actually check for it) for boost leaks.

oh and shitty gas from sitting can have an impact too.

Turns out that the timing was way out, luckily enough that it didn,t slam valves and pistons. Car now start easy, idles, and revs fine

Go figure.....

Are you talking about the timing marks or the base timing being way out??

Timing of crank v. Cams was out. Had to rotate crank about 45deg to match up tdc to cams.
