Green Laser progress for 2011.
« on: April 27, 2011, 10:31:27 pm »
Well, I have finally been feeling motivated enough to start working on the green beast again since putting on a whole 1700km's on her last year. She will probably be out of commission for most of the summer for upgrades still since I really want to save this latest transmission for a good rebuild. The last transmission lasted a whole 1100km's coupled to this motor before shredding the center diff so I feel every day a stock tranny lasts is borrowed time.

I finally got around to installing the Magnus fuel rail and Aeromotive AFPR. Just before the end of last year a few pieces of the turbo to manifold gasket ended up going through the turbine side of the turbo so I ended up pulling the manifold and turbo setup. I just received the replacement GT35R on Monday from Kinetic. The rest the parts, including another valve cover are currently in the care of Sheela. I can't wait to see how that stuff is going to turn out. A non cruise throttle cable is also on order. Removing that whole setup sure frees up a lot of room!

Had to take a pic before removing the rims for the FWD for the summer. The FWD is going to feel so slow after driving this beast!

yup looks good.

What kind of gasket ended up "blowing out"

i have used the thicker 7 cm gaskets and i doubt that would happen to one of them.

Tell me you didn't use those flimsy Felpro exhuast gaskets on this beast!!  i blow those poor things out running 18 psi on a 14b ahahaha

It was a flimsy T3 gasket that was on the manifold when I bought it. The mani and turbo were already assembled when I bought them so I never even thought about it. Ziggy has a nice thick one that he makes. Thats what will be going in there next.

Yeah, I finally got around to getting the laser rear end off and the Talon rear end installed last fall not long before it got stored for the winter. I'm still not sure what I am going to do for the paint scheme. I am on the lookout for a good condition front bumper and if I can find it, a whole teal talon, then I will just keep the whole car teal. We will see what happens, its low on the priority list! I need a built tranny first.

Something that would look neat if you're painting the car anyways (and something I wish I'd dried on mine before all the paintwork): 1Ga trim on a 1Gb. The slim rub strip down the side of the car with the 1Ga rocker cladding. Would look good on a 1Gb, having the cleaner lines.
Objects in mirrors appear to be losing.

So I received another exciting package in the mail today containing these!

A very big thank you to Sheela for her excellent work and great service! This will really help me with the under hood temps as well as save my poor alternator!

I still have not really decided what I am going to do with the paint. It is fun having a multi colored blur though too. Haha

Might not be bad, but I have always wanted the 1gb Talon look So that part will be staying the same at the moment. Its doubtful any bodywork will be done for some time since it really could use a transmission and a few other expensive goodies before it hits the road again.

I managed to get the new turbo installed with all of the newly ceramic coated goodies a few weekends ago.

And for the first time I have been able to have both cars running at the same time since I no longer need to steal parts from one to make the other run!
