it has nothing to do with emissions and crap if you're referring you the bodystyle. The thing that has changed is most vehicles are made with a high percentage of plastic now. The beautiful panels on and muscle car are well crafted pieces of metal with a hair of bondo in some cases. Now panels are plastic and cheap shit. And they've even managed to throw a modern look into cars.  I have never understood the idea behind the "modern" look.  Next time youre driving around.  look at how most of the fender flares are designed.    they have a square edge lining the wheel well opening.   It looks rediculous. Ever muscle car had a beautiful lip on their fenders and an aggressive low hood to fender distance.   I cant stand how tall the new challengers are.  Drop that shit. not to the ground, but atleast so it doesnt look like a caravan.

Challengers look effin huge when you see them on the road! The overall cabin height is massive as well as it being fairly high off the ground... modern cars just seem so concerned with the driver's comfort and a  spacious interior  ::).

yep, they need to use the basics of the Challenger and make it smaller, tighter etc and make a new Cuda.  100%

I do agree tho, retro modern is cool.

I used to talk about that back in the 80s and everyone told me I was a dreamer.  Apparently I was not the only one...

I believe a lot of the problem now is not the car makers and designers but rather the rules and regulation put in place by the government regarding side impact safety, crash testing certification and the like.  I remember reading about one newer car, I think perhaps a Corvette with an options package, the designers had wanted to swap in some more supportive seats but couldn't because they would have had to crash test a bunch of cars to re-certify the car with the new seats and they didn't have the budget to do that.

I'm pretty sure it's side impact requirements that keep the belt-line soooo high on the Charger/300M, and then in turn the Challenger.  The Challenger had to be built off that platform because it is so expensive to qualify and come up with a new platform for a low volume car like the Challenger.  Why do you think it takes 3 years or so to get a facelift which is just headlights, taillights and bumpers on a new car?  It's because of the required crash testing.  It is certainly not because the designers and car companies have no desire to have a fresh look in the showroom every year like they did back in the 50s, 60s, and into the 70s.

The Crown Victoria is dead now too, it's a big 4 door but it's the last body on frame, rear drive, V8 car left.  Gov't mandated stability control and new rollover standards mean it can't adapt so it's dead.  Usher in the FWD unibody V6s...

all gorgeous cars :)

when i see guys parked w/ muscle cars and i pull up (in the talon) and start complementing them, they always seem shocked for some reason... just because you like jap muscle doesn't mean you can't appreciate american muscle either.
