Its really difficult to judge the gap based on the pics  but ide say just run it. I had an old tb that had really bad shaft seals and it closed relatively similar to yours and the car still ran with no loping idle. if its a problem after, its a few minutes to swap out.  the thermostat housing i would swap for sure  lol.

the throttle stop switch might be set wrong...  i generally try and set it a bit more open then when the plate starts jamming up without the stop installed.

from the looks of it the car is going to idle surge like a bitch or idle really high with a gap like that across the throttle plates.

clean the blade and bore so that there is no crud, set the throttle stop switch as per the shop manual, and try to wiggle the shaft.  There should be no slop in the shaft.  These bearings/bushings are pretty stout so its probably fine, but check in any case.

Block off the fast idle air valve and leave the ISC port open.

reroute the coolant line back into itself(on the car, not the throttle body)

install, setup bisss screw and timing.

You could also put in new shaft seals now that its off.

Or you could send it out to be done fully, with half shaft, bored out etc.

It's likely sitting on the stop switch. But it does look like someone has had that plate off judging by the condition of the screw heads. Ensure the plate hasn't been put on backwards...they're tapered. It'll slightly stick if it is, but it's easy enough to look.

you can also loosen the screws a small amount, center the plate and re torque the screws.  Make sure they are staked or somehow held in, or if one of them comes loose, the screw will go thru your engine and turbo.

also, and I did this, once all the other things are done, while the throttle body is still off, you can hold the closed throttle body up to the light and carefully sand off the "high" spots on the throttle plate.  This will allow a more precision fit of the bore and plate.
