been away for a while, here's what i've been up too...
« on: November 18, 2010, 10:43:10 pm »
So I think the last time you guys saw the wagon it looked like this:

5MGE was running on 5 cylinders half the time so i decided to park it and get to work

ewwww

that was over an inch thick in some spots

got it cleaned up and went super ricer white and gold as a joke lol

I know I was planning on going 1/1.5/2jz, but I couldn't find one with a manual transmission for a good price. A wicked deal came up, and a friend had just done a swap with the same motor in a corolla so he figured he could do the wiring easy, so we decided to go with...

an sr20det from an s14A, T28 and some v-tak to boot lol.

I got a LOT of flak for this on the toyota forums. I got a lot of "an sr wont move this thing!" and/or "omg u r so dum". I think they were all just butthurt that i didn't use a toyota motor. The Sr makes a hell of a lot more power than a 5M and is HELLA lighter (light enough that I don't have power steering now and it still feels like i have power steering.)

Then I picked up some some wheels and got a little fitment done

Wheels are 15x10 -25 offset wrapped in 195/55's lol

Painted the bay something proper(dark gray) and tossed in the engine.

was originally going to go v-mount but time/money forced us to go a simpler route

Cut a couple heat vents in the hood

Got rid of the stickers and tint and went for the fishbowl look

And thats where I'm sitting right now. Car runs, drives, and does some sick 1-tire-fires. Just needs an electric fan and I can drive it on the street. I still need to find some S13 (240sx) front coilovers so I have some proper suspension up front (running some super short and stiff shocks and cut springs in the rear) and I need to get a Proper drivers seat (I love the cressida couches but they dont hold to well when ripping sideways lol)

I just wish the wagons had irs so i cold get camber lol would be so sick to get that low and tuck mad rim!

oh and just for fun... a burnout in my daily.

no such thing as excessive power ;) but i saved a LOT of money and weight going SR. Plus the amount of room I have to work on the car is amazing. EVERYTHING is easily accessable to work on. It's so nice!

Sweet!
Stance looks good. A little too much poke'n'stretch for my taste, but as I said. Looks good.

LOVE the burnout photo with you staring deer-in-the-headlights at the camera!

the front will clean up better when i find some coilovers and get camber, its too bad the rears are solid axle and can't get camber so i could tuck it in a little more. I want to eventually get a better set of rims that don't weigh a million pounds and I'm going to figure out sizing/offsets better. I just kinda guessed when i ordered the diamonds haha.

hell if you just did what you just did, you can swap in an IRS from the same source or many other sources.  Hell a DIZZM 3bolt will be cheap ass and the SR won't hurt it for like, ever.

Good job man!!

Get rid of that rust and its the real deal!!

hey Cole, for many years, I drove a MKII Supra, (for those who don't know - pretty much same chassis as Cressida & much interchangeable) and was looking at the turbo conversion or a full-on 7MG-TE swap, but I always thought that a well-done turbo 4 would be easier, and improve fore-aft balance to boot. That is a sweeeet setup, and certainly easier than a 2jz-gte. The reason to not go Toyota 4 cylinder is understandable - a front/rear high-perf (stock) toyota 4 is rare as hen's teeth.

Things that make you go hmmmm? Got anymore of those nissan engines layin' about...I have a 928 in need of an engine that should weigh about the same as your Cressy.....That would TRULY cause much foaming and ranting. ;D

Cole, what's the bolt pattern/offset/centerbore on those Diamonds?
Just curious.

Ken, there is already Porschubishi, why not Porshisan ?  :)

hell, Lotus has not engined one of thier own cars for a long time.  Lota?  Toyotus?  Or previously, Lotisuzu?  Isotus?

But, were it mine, I would make another Porschubishi.  040 over 2.4l with one of those badass new turbos from that other thread.  More power and torque than the V8, better mileage and better weight, all while being easier and cheaper to maintain and work on.
