another "not a DSM" but just as fun ...

So ever since i sold my Talon two years ago, something has been missing. I picked up an '05 BMW 325i a people mover. I needed something FUN!!

Well last summer my boss came up with the idea of getting a motorcycle license. So i did thhe same, took a course with Pacific Riding School (AWSOME) got my full class 6 in October.

I spent the winter/spring looking at bikes, researching bikes and picked up riding gear. Oh yeah and most importantly had to convince/bribe my fiance...

So about two weeks ago, after looking at maybe 20 different bikes. I saw an add on craigslist for this 2004 Kawasaki Ninja 250r. As soon as I saw it, I know it was "the bike" I got a great deal on it too..

Excellent bike choice!  Great handling, great brakes, light weight, stingy on fuel and not too much power to get a new rider in over their head.  And you're already realizing the pleasure of corners over sheer speed and acceleration that bigger bikes offer.  Too many new riders get a 600 and kill themselves on it buy ripping everywhere, a car pulls out in front of them cause there wasn't a bike coming a second ago ...

A 600cc sport bike isnt a smart starter bike, but it also depends on the person. I know if i brought home a cbr 600rr my old man would have hung me by my cubes... 

haha....I heard about the Kawi 400, as far as i know its a de-tuned zx6, but just as heavy...

Like i said i looked at a bunch of 600cc bikes, but always subconciously backed off. As soon as i saw this bike in person, I knew it was the perfect bike for me...

I will ride it for the summer (insured until end of Sept) If i still enjoy riding than next spring i will work on upgrading. The upgrade will either be a Suzuki SV650 (v-twin) or a Honda VFR800.

haha...She is dealing with it...I bribed her a long time ago...I had a rough few days with the old man, when the bike came home...

You should come by n check out my little rocket...You and a few others (hakija, Kman) were all supposed to get bikes with me, but u guys chickened out ....

I started on a 600. Still here as well.

Mind you, mine's an enduro. So it's slow anyway.

Nice buy, Osme. My brother started on and still has an SV650-s. Great bike, I rode it once and was impressed.
Just remember, ATGATT. All The Gear, All The Time. Save for riding pants, I always abide by this rule. If I'm commuting to work, I'll sometimes skip the riding pants (but still wear Dickies or good jeans) but if it's anything more I'll have everything on.

Cool little bikes those!!

If you are not a huge guy, the little bikes are great.  So easy to ride, park and if you fall, easy to pick up again.  Gas and insurance are cheap, cheap, cheap!!

and its not "slow" really.  Of course, not as fast as a real "sport" bike, but it handles nearly as well, and works nicely.

Is this fuel injected or carbs?  5 or 6spd?
