I've used a mixture of Redline MTL/MT90 in my FWD transmission and no shifting issues cold or warm.  In my AWD trans i've been using Pennzoil Synchromesh and it grinds slightly when cold, but fine when warm, but there is a lot more moving around in an AWD trans.  Almost considering switching to the MTL/MT90 mix to see if it works any better.

diffs use GL5.  No yellow metals in there.

Use the GL4 in the tranny.  Do your transfer case too.  Same as tranny.

I may change out the oil in the Talon as its definately making more torque than the one in the Galant.  ;)

I'm running Redline Shockproof Heavy for my rear diff, Glen.

Good oil and fairly cheap. I think I had leftovers from a quart (Did it just over a year ago, probably time to change it again).

Gear oil should last ALOT longer than that Cam, unless you got water and mud etc in there?

Nope, should be clean.

What would be an appropriate interval for gear oil on diffs & trans?

several years I would say.

I could look it up on Alldata if you like, or in the manual, but a lot longer than a year.  There is no combustion or extreme heat in there like in an engine.

I've heard on some newer vehicles it's upwards of 70 000k+

I've been running Redline Heavy Shockproof in my transfer case, and rear diff.  Correct me if i'm wrong but there aren't any yellow metals in the t-case, so wouldn't a GL-5 be ok for T-case and Rear Diff?  Just make sure to stick to GL-4 in the Transmission.

no yellow metals in the tcase as far as I know, but its supposed to have the same oil viscosity as the tranny, so that gear oil is pretty heavy for it.

My tranny blew up to pieces all over the highway.  I was running redline MT90.   All the other times i was running Royal purple/lucas 75w90 or penzoil syncromesh and never had a problem with them blowing into little pieces.
