Some Pics of my RHD JDM EVO I GSR
« on: July 21, 2009, 11:03:26 pm »
Engine is all stock except the ARC airbox and the aluminum race rad and Slimfan.

I love these O.Z. Racing rims.  Super lightweight!   Some people think they are ugly... but they have grown on me forsure.

Heres a couple pics i took of it a few weeks ago when it was awaiting repair of the broken clutch pedal cluster shortly after i got it

Heres my old DSM.  It was part of the trade for me to get the EVO.  Its new home is up in kamloops.  I miss the powe it has compared to the EVO.  Even with the little 14b it still would rip the EVO in a rave..... but the EVO definatly handles better

And my old favorite.  my 4g63t swapped colt  (currently undergoing upgrades)

Thank you!, Come again!

What hardware makes the Evo handle better than your 1ga did?

if they made those in left hand drive, I would be all over one of them.
Why didn't you buy this John?

well the evo has lowering springs...  and tighter sway bars... also lower km's on it.  Plus its lighter.  I think the evo is 2750 lbs.

Thats probably why it handles so much better then my old 1ga

Gotcha John.  You're only interested in a turn key daily driver right now, eh? Oh well... wait another 10 years for US evo VIII's to come down to under 10 thou  :(

They can never make it illegal to drive my car.  They have already said its legal to drive on canadian roads, they cant deny it now thats it registered and such.  They would have a hayday in the courts if they tried to pull shit like that.

Now they CAN raise insurance rates based on the crash rates of LHD vehicles compared to the RHD cars.  I agree that RHD cars crash a lot more... but this might also be due to the fact that New Drivers are buying these high powered RWD sports cars and crashing them cuz they are new to RHD and also they are fast and overpowered RWD cars, which are sometimes hard to control, even with an experienced driver.

I agree with this... Its just that normal class 5 drivers are more experienced and once they own the RHD vehicle for a year or more (or even less) they become used to driving it and its just like driving a LHD for them.  These people SHOULD NOT pay more for insurance.  The Class 7 new drivers  that just got the RHD cars SHOULD pay more for insurance.  I bet we will see something happen along these lines in the years to come.

They can also change the importation laws so people cant use the 15 year "loophole".  Make it so that cars need to be 25 years old before you could import them.  That would shut shit down very quickly. on all the RX7's, skylines, delicas etc etc coming in.

The cars that have already been imported and inspected and registered would be fine and theres no way they could make them illegal to drive.

Who knows... as for now im happy paying less then $100 a month to have my "4 door family car" insured.  Hopefully it stays that way.
