Looks decent! Yeah most gravel roads are brutal even in the Xterra I could feel, but it a DSM it would give me great pain :(

So... this thread's been quiet. Initial hype, but very very few commitments.
Brad.. would you be interested in going? It's basically there for you since you're up in that area... ish.
Anybody else?
I'll see if I can get more people with DSMs to come. I have two buddies - Jon is already on here - and Dan who drives a red 1Gb Laser.

Stickied

I think for the mainlanders, budgeting will be key. We have 118 days from today.

Think saving 1 starbucks per day, and you would have a nice vacation!

More info on this to come (routing, lodging etc)

Whoops..Somehow its become a parts car!

Ctrl C + Ctrl V from the other thread...

This was a sticky in the Meeting Room of old site before it went down and haven't gotten around to posting about it again...

But finally, here we go.

Cam Weiss and I have talked about making this a proper meet on Vancouver Island. Mainland members are more than welcome to come. Anybody with a DSM, member or not would of course also be welcome and/or anyone who can't take their ride over because of the ferries being retarded and not accommodating those with super low rides/body kits. Come with something else. Just come.

But seriously, come with a DSM.

The days will be the weekend of August 14-16.

Cam will already be there that weekend.
I will be going regardless.
Richard will come whether it's with me or in his own DSM if he doesn't have to work
Goran Jandric will go as long as there is some interest from other people.
Yas Jandric would come if he has a DSM again by them or he might be up with me.
Shane said he's go up.
Dan Harshey?

I know some other island members had expressed interest. Let's hope they still are interested.

It's a fun, beautiful, ~200km cruise from Nanaimo.

Here's a link to the Google Map of the Route

Now Tofino has a tendency of getting VERY expensive during the summer, so it is important to make some kind of arrangements as soon as possible if you are determined to go. Last minute deciders will pay a bit much for lodging/camping.

I did say I would look into some prices at some of the hotels/b&bs/campgrounds as well. I'll do so and post back with info/rates. If there is enough committed interest, I can check to see what a group rate will run.

LET'S MAKE THIS HAPPEN AND LET'S MAKE IT THE BEST MEET THAT EVER HAPPENED ON THE ISLAND!
Slam some beer back. Talk about our cars, other people's cars, girls, guys (if that's your thing  Undecided) Surf, skimboard, hike or whatever.

So, if you want to come. Please let me know and how you want to spend your nights (ie.: camp, hotel, your car/truck/camper)

I will be up there, club or no club.

Thoughts:
This is (reportedly) one of the best driving roads in the province. If that's not a cool excuse, what is?
I hope to see some Mainlanders and most of us Islanders kicking around for the weekend.

That's all I can think of to add right now.

Okay I did some quick checking into the prices. A lot of the places are between $200-$450 PER NIGHT. That's right. PER NIGHT.

This little Inn seems to have decent rooms and they are not extremely pricey for the season.
Rooms are between $169-$229 P/night for some nice looking rooms with a decent view.

Middle Beach Lodge seems to offer rooms/lodges starting at $140 going up to $450! Looks like they have two locations where they rent.

A Snug Harbour Inn in Ucluelet - ~80km from Tofino - has rooms starting at $270. They appear to be bright and well snug.

Those are just a few places I've check into. Here are some direct links to the rates of other places. Keep in mind there are MANY places to stay in Tofino/Ucluelet. Camping is also an option let's not forget.

Pacific Sands Beach Resort
[http://www.pacificsands.com/rates.html]
Little Beach Resort
[http://www.littlebeachresort.com/cabins.html]
MacKenzie Beach Resort (site seems goofy in FF. Fine in IE7)

Campgrounds:

Bella Pacifica Campground

I'm checking into more campgrounds as well and will update with pricing etc. and/or group rates if applicable and if we can get enough people to come out.

I would like to present another option for accommodations.

The Tofino Hostel has got pretty good rates, a pool table, living room, sauna, kitchen, etc.
Starts at $30 per bed per Night, reservations reccommended.

Edit - There appears to be a number of hostels in Tofino. A simple google search will yeild a few results.

Again, Let's start confirming participants. Mainlanders?

Bump.

Now that the FVT has come and gone, I would like to remind everyone of the best meet you'll ever see on the Island!

Still looking for confirmation and a final guest list - Less than a month to go, folks!

As much as I hate to start another one of these, I feel that the older ones are too out of date to be of any use.

Confirmed:
1. Cam Weiss

Maybe:
1.

Maybe:
1.Shane - provided the car is done... it will be tight... and even if the car is done it might be risky taking it on that trip for a break in run.

Have shane do a compression test, hopefully its not the start of a hg issue!  Well, another reason to need my 7bolt if it is, haha.
