RIP DSM (1990 - November 14th 2008 at 0810)
« on: November 16, 2008, 01:06:36 pm »
I was on my way to school and a woman in a Ford Fiesta jumps out of a side street right in front of me resulting in the death of my dsm.

dude...if the frame is NOT too fucked...then that isnt that bad...hood ,fender and a bumper...and a few other little bits...but if the frame is okay...rebuild it. dont let them take it. especially if it was 100% the other drivers fault. fight it. they will fix it. use the line "i love my car, I didnt ask for somebody to crash into me, it was not my fault so why should i lose the car I have dedicated many hours of hard work and love into? "  because thats what id do...no way in hell would ICBC take my car if i did nothing wrong and somebody smashed it up. I can understand if it is totally fucked and a total "loss" (write off) but if there is 3  grand in damage they wouldnt normally fix it. but like i said fight it if it was 0 % your fault.

Shane you donno what your talking about. The black book price for a stock 1990 dsm is $1100 The head light and corss menber replacment makes it a right off. plus body panals and all the shit like paint fraim pulling ect.

Paint on this car would be 600+ bucks if it was quality and not macco. prep, prime, prep, paint, clear. "bumper, fender, head light, rad suport, hood, door blend.

take as much as you can get man, its hard to get 2Gs for a stcok 1990dsm I seem people trying at 750 and im sure ICBC will end up giving you more so take it. invest it in a new'r dsm or somthing elss :)

Ps are your doors power windows? if not ill swap you with other doors becouse it gose to the wrecker

im pretty sure it will be a write off, it was 0% my fault and I have a witness so I;m not worried about that, if they write it off I will most likely buy it  back if its not to expensive and i can rent a trailer to tow it back from Van for fairly cheap.  heres a few more pics i took of it at the yard.

Blue and black book values have very little to do with how icbc decides whether they will fix your car and if not what they give you for it.  Market value, shape of the car, mileage etc... are what they use.  As told to me by 3 different adjusters.  That sucks though dude, fight as hard as you can to get it fixed, youd be surprised. Good luck.

not to mention blue book isnt relevant in canada. the black book is. and the black book doesnt go back that far to 91. and zach, because it was 0% his fault and he has a witness, icbc pretty much has to settle him with what he wants. even if it costs 3 grand to fix.

Man.  Sorry to hear about your accident.  At least you are ok!
If its a write off, I would keep the engine and ecu for spare parts if the engine is still ok.  Maybe even some of the interiors.

DSMs are getting rare these days.  You can't find parts easily like those old Ford/Chevy blocks which they still make.

From the looks of it the lady nailed you pretty hard.  Even popped your tire ~!!

ahahah you crack me up shane. I had one in my last shop, and the last dealership I was at. But there are some good dsm deals out there is all im saying, if you can get good money for a stocker you can pick up somthing done up a bit, Eg rims rubber maybe lowerd with like boost gauge and some other cool stuff that would cost a pritty penny.

from what I see:
New
Bumper, fender, hood, rad suport, front rebar , markers, merror, rim refinish, all 4 rubber if its AWD fender liner, little popclips and bolts n what have you.

maybes
crossmember and some drive line, hub etc.

at least 2 hours on frame pullin, Alot of paint, alinment.

That equals alot of $ out of icbc's pocket. thats why I posted what I did. :)

Just my 2 cents.

So I hope your ok n all that. Its a shame to see it die.

Ps if its a right off it wouldnt mind the flip light cover that isnt damaged, mine is.
