Working on the DSM's, Colts, and Evo
« on: June 18, 2008, 05:36:19 pm »
Me and a few friends from my city (kamloops) decided to get together and work on the Mitsubishis.  We boost leak tested, set base timing, installed boost controller, disconnected exhuast for more power ;) and sat around talked cars and drank some beers.

There was in attendance:

1989 Colt GT turbo (14b, FMIC, MBC)
1990 Talon Tsi AWD (6/3 FMIC, MBC, K&N, Walbro 255)
1993 Talon Tsi AWD ( 6/4 combo, MBC, Cat removed)
1992 Talon Tsi AWD ( 6/4 combo, MBC, Aftermartet Garret turbo, FMIC, 680cc Injectors, GM mAs, SAFC, cams, AEM cam gears, 3" exhuast... too much to list.  Should run 400 WHP.
1992 Mitsubishi Evolution I RHD. (authentic)
1993 Dodge Colt 4g63t (14b, MBC, FMIC, K&N, Walbro255, 2.5" exhuast)

PICS

Brendans 1989 Colt GT

Pats 1992 6/4 AWD turbo Talon Tsi

Coles 1992 Evo

My '93 4g63t colt and my '90 Talon AWD

400 HP?

5 4g63t's and 1 4g61t :)

Wow good job guys.

I am impressed with the Evo I.  Looks like a killing machine ~

I think every city should have a meet like this.  Just so that people don't have to drive too far and get together to fix their cars, and exchange tips and aid.  Everyone brings whatever tools they have and borrow whatever tools they don't have.

Anyone who is interested in setting up a local tune up meet/location in Vancouver, Richmond or Burnaby should speak up ~
I am totally down for it.  I can never learn enough, and always glad to have someone lend a helping hand.

Lol nope, another 1.5L tranny. Ready to be destroyed yet again.  It gave me a funny look as it passed the blown up one i took out in pieces as it was heading in to be bolted up to the tranny destroyer (AKA 6 bolt 4g63t ;)  )  .  Poor little guy

This one was a test, as i rebuilt this one myself for cheap using two bad 1.5L trannys. ahah.

Cool thing is the tranny shifts perfect, no bearing noise, nothing...

I guess i can rebuild DSM trannys ahah!  wasn't so hard!

Oh and dont worry.  The tranny abuse will stop soon.  I have two FWD turbo trannys sitting here infront of me.  I just have to fabricate a hydrolic clutch system as well as make a custom crossmember for the rollstop engine mounts and ill not have to replace my tranny as much as my engine oil!!.  Also the axels need to be figured out but i might be able to use the 89 turbo colt GT axels, or i can use FWD DSM axels if i swap to the DSM knuckle/hub.

My 4g63t colt had a dsm FWD tranny and I ran gt axles.  So you can use them in yours... or is the hub different? In which case you cant and this statement is useless  :)

Yeah im pretty sure the hub is different.  Thats why i might have to go to talon axels with the talon hub... which will swap ontoi a 4th gen colt... but the camber will off so you have to slot the strut/knuckle bolts.

most of the mechanical bits from an Evo 3 are DSM compatible.  We all rob those parts off them right?  Evo3 manifold, Evo3 turbo etc.
