Aircare and 264 cams?
« on: July 11, 2006, 05:01:19 pm »
well time to bring her though again. have done lots since last time. 264 web cams, safc2, 680 injectors, 2G maf, and fmic.

now what should i do for aircare. whipp out the injectors and maf, and disconnect the safc. go through with them cams in. now i know there the least aggressive cams so would i be ok?

last time i went thourgh i barely regerstered and emissions and passed with flying colours.

I could probly tune my safc low enough to pass but i don't have a wideband to do it accurately.

Not sure if you have your eprom up and running, but if it's compensted for 660's flow and deadtime and a 2gmaf you should be able to leave them in without any consequences.  I passed by a good margin with a similar setup.  On the other hand if compensating with safc only there might be issues.

No personal experience on the cams, but I have read reports of passing with 264's and even 264 / 272 combinations.  I'm sure it won't help, but if everything else is in check it may not be an issue.

Ds-map / Jackal, highly recommended.  I've been running it for the last 3 - 4 years.  Amazing improvement in throttle response and overall power under part throttle conditions, and that was with the old maf still in place for 2 years.  Amazing tuning platform in my opinion, and best of all free.

I've gone through Aircare with my 264 regrinds with no problems.  Like Miles said, make sure that your ECU is compensated for the 2G MAS and the injectors and you should be fine.  I had the 2G MAS and 680 CC injectors and a FMIC when I passed Aircare and all I did was make sure that my idle and cruise AF was in spec (14.7:1).

Later, Vlad.
all go, no show!

yep, don't take it apart, just tune what you have.  I didn't have my cams in when I went thru aircare, but I've never even come close to failing with huge injectors and even before I had the eprom and adjustable pressure reg.

make sure the cat is good and also hot.

I went through with them and I was about 40% of average passing vehicle on every count.

Wow, I really didn't think that would be possible.  Are you using adjustable cam gears or anything ?  What's your vaccum at idle ?

I always assumed I would have to swap them out every year.

Awesome, now I can buy cams
