What do you guys suggest for an engine break in technique. My motor is in and I have yet to turn the key.

very little boost for about 2-3000km.  Do alot of city driving.. changing the rpm's quite frequently.  Highway driving won't be good u wana have a different range of rpm's all the time.  Stop and go is good.  Thats how i did mine.. i got told this by the mechanic.

Hope this helps.. Ernie.

Lots of boost (factory stock) on a limited basis. This helps to seat the rings. Make sure to vary the RPM lots (no highway driving). If the engine is built to correct tolerances, your break in will be done by about 500 miles.

You need to prime the oil pump before starting it. I'd recommend cranking the motor over with the mpi fuse out, maybe 5 times @
10secs /time with a break in between for the starter motor

It just ensures there's oil waiting everywhere before you crank it up.

When you do start it, keep it above 2500 varying the rpm.

when me and my dad rebuilt my old cars engine(he's a mechanic) we ahd to seat the piston rings.  to do this we took it out to a not busy highway and and accelarated from about 60km to about 80 or 90 and then lift the foot off the gas slowing back donw to 60 and repeated.  this was an auto though.... it's more based on rpm.  i'll ask him tonight what rpm you should be around to seat them in.. then i drove it lightly for about 500 clicks and changed the oil.

I just broke mine in.   My technique:

Stock boost.  Windy road.   WOT, compression brake, repeat.........  Do this for at least 20 miles.    I did it for 60 km......    8)

Beat the piss out of it.  Bag it.   Beat on it hard.

My engine is working just fine.   I burned some oil on the trip down from Terrace.  But since the night before the FVT, to after, I didn't burn any.    And as some people know,  there was some very hard driving being done.......

Thanks for the input. I've got 150 ish kms on it already after today. Car runs awesome. I have a little vibration at higher rpm's but I think it might be a motor mount, everything mechanical is "toight" When do you recomend turning up the boost?

I would suggest around 1000km, or a bit more.  Definitely by 2000km......

I would turn up the boost conservatively, if you don't have a datalogger. Be sure you aren't knocking......
