Testing Knock Sensor
« on: May 20, 2003, 06:10:23 pm »
Hey guys....

I remember reading somehwere that if you use a rubber hammber and hit the top of the valve cover that you should get some knock when hooked up to a datalogger....

I tried that but the logger didn't show any knock......

Is there another way to verify my knock sensor is working.... I don't want to turn up to boost/lean things out till I make sure it's working fine....
Any help will be greatly appreciated....

Thankx,
Raymond

Use a regular hammer and hit the back of the block, under the intake manifold.

Make sure you are hitting just the cast iron block, not any other pieces.

Also, I'm sure you can read some knock, just go for a drive.  Turn up the boost to 15, run 91 octane and you will see some :)

Then run 94 octane and up the boost.
