Big brake kit for 92 Tsi.
« on: May 15, 2003, 03:22:47 pm »
Hey guys, I am just about due for some new front brakes. I was wondering if anyone who has had the conversion done can tell me where I can get the big brake kit for a 92 6-bolt/4-bolt, and how much approximately does it cost for the kit with installation.

Thank you!

Hey matt, I have a 92 6 bolt 4 bolt as well, with the big brakes done to it.  We used the 93 2 pot calipers with cross drilled rotors and DOT5 brake fluid.  Right now I can make your brain feel like it is smushing the inside of your skull.  I believe it was basically just bolt on as I bought the car with it, but it looked pretty simple when I ripped it all off, definately worth it.

Really im not 100% positive what they are, when I got the car they looked pretty proffesional but when I compare them to like Powerstop, damn I have a lot of holes in mine.  Im not 100%.  You can have a look on the FVT to see.

Yes as the 93 brakes.  Just pretty much I have a 93 brake system on my 92 car, the 93's came with a 2 pot caliper.

Yeah, Lowell installed a big brake kit for my 90 GSX years ago.....HUGE improvement over the stock POS brakes, especially after new pads and cross drilled rotors.

Later Lowell put in a bigger brake booster too when my stock one failed.  Couldn't be happier with my brakes now.

just the dual piston kit, which came from a 92 Stealth none-turbo.

And you need the dual piston kit to use AEM kit as well anyway.

dodge stealth brakes are 4 piston brakes... and a few things (i checked with lowell on this mod.. was goona try it...)

first off the 4 piston brakes only fit on the fronts... not the rears...but i think he said you also need something else.... can't remember what.. dammit my memory fails again...

i know for the rears the bolt holes don't line up.... for the fronts i think they can be made to...

no point to upgrade the rears really,  the brake load is mostly on the front, just put in some cross drilled in back and you should be good.

Brake around a corner? Your nuts, thats how you get in an accident, well maybe lightly in a corner, brake into a corner and accelerate out of it, never brake going around a corner.  Just apply a little more gas around a corner for your tires to pull yah.
