2g air filter help
« on: January 10, 2005, 08:21:38 pm »
i need to give my maf some support so that my cone filter doesnt just rest on the engine bay and i was wondering what other 2g ppl did for a mounting bracket.  something cheap and do it yourself would be nice.  thanks

in case it matters, my filter is a 7" tapered K&N

Make an L bracket that bolts onto the frame. Easy and simple to do. One bolt on the MAF, one bolt onto the frame.

Lawrence, you could easily just get a piece of sheet aluminum from any Revy and just cut it up and drill it appropriately.  Bet you can get it done for less than a phone call

Go look around in a garage for a piece of metal. Drill two holes in it, bend it in an L, and bolt it in. That's exactly how I did it.

Yes, they are 10mm.  And Lawrence, you'd be surprised how many parts you can salvage out of a kimchi fridge :).

If you plan on buying bolts.....

You want a 6.0x1.0mm with a 10mm head on them 15mm long

Don't go to Lordco in Mission for the bolts, I asked for (4) M10 x 1.25 x 2-3/4" long, he wrote it down right and somehow between the counter and the bolt shelf 3/4" fell off the bolts...   Good thing they were free.
