suspension set ups
« on: December 19, 2004, 08:30:38 pm »
I bought emersons colt and when i got it, it had chopped springs and I mean I dont really mind a harsh ride or anything but they arent exact and are causing some problems.  So its suspension time.  I am looking for something to maintain my lower ride height maybe a little higher than now since I get some rubbing etc...and my budget isnt huge so I was just thinking some kyb gr-2's with some stiff lowering springs, not sure which kind.  Any input would be much appreciated.  Thanks

I'm putting in some gr2's and stiffer springs next week :)
We took the trans out today, and the front diff broke apart and cracked the case. The front motor mount is also torn right off the subframe... can you say wheel hop?"

what kinda springs you going for?  Thats really my only dilemma here  :(
I was thinking eibach sportlines, anybody know if they are any good?  Oh and where are you getting your gr-2's?  I was thinking a slowboy racing distributor might get me a decent price.

I like my suspension techniques springs.  Drop isn't huge though, ~1.5" depends how much you want.

you really only have two options for a colt, 1. buy the GR2 w/eibachs or another stiff spring, i would suggest getting a colt specific spring as talon fwd awd springs can be made to work but its allot of fooling around, cutting, etc.   2. get a koni, colt specific shock/coilover kit (DSS, GC,) i personally would save up for the koni adjustable setup, everyone who has these love it, but costly. just buy the GR-2 and a progressive lowering spring, cheep but does the job. I think Mike had this setup on his yellow colt and loved it. oh and get front, rear, strut bars, helps ALLOT, they dont make these for our cars so you have to modify existing bars. front use 93-96 mirage bar, rear use 2g eclipse rear bar.

edit: I dont think eibach makes colt specific springs. i know intrax does.

Sportlines are pretty  low and hard.  Ask Travis and his woman ;)

ST's are a nice compromise between low and nice ride.  I like em.

Good shocks are a must tho.  Mine are getting a bit worn.
