starting troubles
« on: October 07, 2004, 05:27:27 pm »
when i try and start my car (usually in the morning its worse) the engine is barely turning over and trying to start and after about over 10 cranks it starts to almost idle and by 15 cranks it usually starts up. problem is it keeps getting worse and worse. as in cranking the car over for almost 10 seconds for it to barely start up. it has a hard time the first couple cranks but it seems to get more juice as time goes on. (as its cranking) ive never seen this and i think its really weird. is it the starter or my battery? or both?

same issue with my 2g, i got the starter replaced, still same problem, then got a new battery, and its totally fine now. so try a new battery first.

Battery or starter. how old are yours? also it wouldn't hurt to get a compression test done. i had uneven compression in my old car and it sounded like that.

the battery is from august '01. and the car sat for 6 months prior to me buying it. looks like a new battery for me.

try stickin the battery on the charger for a day or so, or try giving it a jump start first

yup.. try a new battery first.. see what it does, and check your voltages, it shouldn't drop below 9-10 volts while cranking over and should be around 12.5 static with everything off
